Health

There are a number of aspects that come into play when we try to take care of our health. For many people, being healthy means not being sick. For others, health comes from being physically fit. While we may each think of different things when we are trying to be healthy, the path to overall health is the same for everyone.

This website was created to address the many aspects of health and what it means to be healthy. In order to be completely well, there are a number of topics one must consider. Here are some of the main areas of health:

Eating Right
We know that eating right is a huge component to being healthy. When we get enough fruits and vegetables, we feel better, have more energy, and are less prone to getting sick.

Helping our readers eat right is a major part of the information that we share. We provide our readers with tips on swapping out ingredients that aren’t so good for us with options that are better for us, have less calories, and give us the nutrients we need.

We share snack recipes, healthy dinners, and even options to get if you’re forced to go through a drive through.

Getting Exercise

Just eating healthy meals isn’t enough to be healthy. While it can be a great start, our health also comes from getting exercise. But enough exercise doesn’t mean you need to spend hours at the gym. Even frequent walks, simple changes like taking the stairs, or just getting some more movement can contribute to your overall health.

We share tips for how to squeeze in some more exercise into your busy day. We know not everyone is a runner and not everyone can realistically spend 2 hours at the gym every day. But everyone can make a few changes that gets them results.

Stress Management

Many of us don’t consider the consequences that stress has on our bodies. If we don’t effectively manage our daily stress, our immune system is compromised, we have trouble sleeping, and we can’t focus enough to complete our necessary tasks.

That’s why we focus a major component of our website to developing stress management strategies. We help you find the time to relax, read a book, and promote an overall sense of health that stems beyond just exercising and eating right.

If you want to be healthy, you don’t need to be a personal trainer or a nutritionist. You just need to know what to look for. Many individuals believe that health is too difficult to master. They believe it is for people with money to spend and time to waste, but for the busy individuals that dedicate their days to working and maintaining a family, health is just a myth.

But for someone who genuinely cares about their health and well being, it can be easy to find the strategies and make the swaps that allows them to feel better. No matter how busy you are or how much money you have, getting healthy doesn’t need to be difficult.

Everyone’s journey to health and wellness is different, but they all have the same basic components. If you’re ready to take the initiative and start living a better life, we are here to help you.

Anxiety

Many people mistakenly believe that anxiety is simply a fear or worry that comes and goes when a big event is coming up. While it is normal for individuals to feel a fit of nerves when something important is coming up, an anxiety disorder is very different. Unlike someone who experience occasional and rational fits of anxiety, someone with an anxiety disorder often feels nervous or anxious for no reason or over something small. The anxiety often does not go away and can actually become much worse as time goes on.

Kinds of Anxiety Disorders

There are various conditions that fall under the umbrella of anxiety disorders and each stems from an anxiety of a different situation or reaction.

Three of the biggest anxiety disorders include Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is characterized by anxiety characteristics for several months. Those with panic disorder experience panic attacks that can come at unexpected times and often are accompanied by symptoms like sweating, increased heart rate, choking, and shortness of breath. Sufferers of Social Anxiety Disorder fear social interactions and often believe they will be embarrassed or rejected in social settings.

Other kinds of anxiety disorders include phobias, which are identified by intense fears of certain behaviors, items, or places. Each kind of anxiety has a unique set of symptoms and characteristics that are triggered by different environments and behaviors.

Symptoms of Anxiety Disorders

Although each form of anxiety disorder will have a unique set of characteristics and symptoms, they each share symptoms including problems sleeping, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, dry mouth, nausea, dizziness, muscle tension, numbness or tingling in the hands or feet, and feelings of panic and fear. The level of each of these symptoms will depend on the kind of anxiety disorder and the level of the anxiety each individual has.

Treatments for Anxiety Disorders

Just as there are various forms of anxiety disorders, there are a number of therapies and treatments to reduce the symptoms associated with those disorders. In most cases, treatment includes a mixture of psychotherapy and medication. Kinds of psychotherapy include cognitive behavioral therapy, which changes the individual’s way of thinking. Medications for anxiety disorders include things like antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and beta-blockers.

Anxiety disorders can also be treated through support groups and interacting with other individuals suffering from the same anxieties.

Through sharing treatments and bonding over similar fears, individuals with anxiety disorders can begin to feel more comfortable with their anxieties knowing they aren’t alone. Stress-management techniques can also help individuals find relief when an anxiety attack begins.

Breathing techniques or activities like yoga can help individuals with anxiety disorders remain calm.Anxiety disorders can be a serious condition that prevents individuals from living their life to their fullest capability,

but thankfully there are a number of ways to treat and reduce the symptoms that are associated with anxiety. But in order to do so, a full understanding is important in order to make the necessary life changes.
